The Greatest Commandment
  • A religious lawyer was interested in eternal life. What did the lawyer say when Jesus asked the man about God’s law?
    The man answered, “you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, strength and mind - and love your neighbor as you love yourself.

  • Jesus agreed. Then the man wanted to know “who is my neighbor”? How did Jesus answer the question?
    Jesus answered the question by telling the parable of the Good Samaritan.

  • According to the parable, who was the neighbor?
    A neighbor is any person that is in need of help.

  • In the story, who did not fulfill the command? Who kept the commandment?
    The Priest and the Levite did not keep the commandment. The Samaritan was the one who fulfilled the commandment of loving your neighbor.
Martha and Mary
  • In the story, what did Martha do?
    Martha was busy with chores and complained to Jesus that Mary was not helping.
  • What did Mary do, and how did Jesus respond?
    Mary chose to pay attention to Jesus, and he said that Mary made a good choice.
The Lord’s Prayer
  • Why were the disciples amazed at the instructions gave them about prayer?
    The disciples were astounded that Jesus told them to refer to God as ‘Our Father’, and used the most tender word for ‘Father’.

  • Why is the Lord’s Prayer important for believers as a model for prayer?
    The prayer teaches us what to pray about and the way we should pray.

  • What is one of the most important truths we can learn from the prayer?
    Believers are able to enter into a loving relationship with God the Father through Jesus Christ.
