Renouncing Everything
- Jesus talked about being a disciple. What is the most important motivation
to be a disciple of Jesus?
The disciple must have an intense love for Jesus Christ.

The disciple must put Jesus Christ above everything else in life.

This was another way saying that suffering is part of being a disciple.
The Cost of Being a Disciple
- Jesus told two parables about being a disciple. What was he trying to teach
the disciples?
There is a personal cost in being a disciple. Each parable taught the same truth. It
costs everything to be a disciple. The commitment to Jesus Christ must
be total - nothing held back.
The Lost Sheep and the Good Shepherd
- Who is the sheep in this parable? Who is the shepherd?
The sheep are those who are lost.. The shepherd is Jesus Christ.
- What is the truth that the parable teaches?
Heaven rejoices when just one sinner repents.
The Lost Son - A Picture of Salvation
- Who is the son in this parable? Who is the father?
The son leaves home and is a sinner. The father is God the Father.
- What do we learn about salvation from this parable?
God forgives the sinner and restores him as a son - as if the son had never left
home or sinned.
