goods was a sign of God’s blessing. What did Jesus teach the people in this
parable?
Jesus taught the people that riches had nothing whatsoever to do with the blessing
of God. You will discover that the Bible does not have anything positive
about possessing riches.
- In the parable, how did Abraham respond to the plea of the rich man to
send someone form the dead to warn his brothers?
Abraham told the rich man that the living had Moses and the prophets to guide
them - referring to the Holy Scriptures.
Humble Services

Giving service to God should be thought of as a privilege.
- How did Jesus encourage believers about serving God?
Jesus told the disciples that they should regard themselves as unworthy servants.
The Day of the Son of Man
- Jesus spoke about two signs that were connected to the ‘days of the Son of
Man. what were these two signs?
The first sign was that events would be like it was in the days of Noah - before the
flood. The flood took the people who were unprepared by surprise.
The second sign referred to the destruction of Sodom - this too came suddenly and
without warning.
The Pharisee and the Publican
- The Pharisee and the Publican each were praying in the Temple. What
was the difference between the two men?
The Pharisee was described as being self-righteous; his prayers were not answered.
The Publican confessed that he was a sinner and begged for mercy. God
answered the sinner’s prayer.
The story also was the basis for one of the oldest prayers in church history: “Lord
Jesus Christ, Son of God, be merciful to me - a sinner.
