The Widow’s Gift
- The widow put all she had into the collection plate along with rich people.
What do we learn from the words of Jesus?
God is not impressed with the amount. God is more concerned with the heart. It
cost the rich very little in order to give. The widow gave all she all she
had.
Be on the Alert
- Jesus told the people that the temple would be destroyed. What are the
signs that Jesus said would happen before the destruction of the Temple?
There will be false teachers. Nation will fight against nation. There will be
earthquakes, plagues and famines in various places. There will be fearful
sights and great signs in the heavens.
Believers be betrayed, seized and persecuted. Jerusalem will be surrounded by
armies. That will be the time to escape quickly.
The Institution of the Eucharist - Communion - Lord’s Supper
- At the last Passover meal that Jesus celebrated, he established what is
called ‘The Eucharist’. What does that word mean?
The word Eucharist means ‘thanksgiving’.
- What other words are used to describe the Eucharist?
The Eucharist is also called ‘Communion’ of ‘The Lord’s Supper’. There are others
who refer to this celebration as ‘The Table of the Lord’.
- What does the broken bread symbolize or represent in the celebration?
The broken bread represents the body of Jesus Christ.
- What does the cup of wine symbolize or represent in the celebration?
The cup and the wine represents the the new covenant “in my blood’, said Jesus.
- What do believers affirm when the celebrate the Eucharist?
The believers are proclaiming the death of Jesus Christ until he returns again as he
has promised.
