Chapter 28 |
Jesus Appears to Disciples - Thomas Absent
- Jesus appeared to his disciples. What did he do?
Jesus showed the disciples his wounds; the nails in his writs; and the wound in his
side where the guard has thrust his spear. Then Jesus permitted the
disciples to touch him.
- Why did Jesus refuse to let Mary touch him? Why did Jesus let the
disciples touch him? What assumption can be made about these events.
Jesus would not permit Mary to touch him because he had not ascended to the
Father. Jesus did let the disciples touch him. When Jesus appeared to the
disciples, he must have ascended to the Father and then returned.

Jesus invited Thomas to touch his wounds.
- What did Thomas say to Jesus?

Jesus told Thomas that he was blessed for believing in the Lord because Thomas
had seen him. Jesus said that those who believed in the Lord without
seeing him would be even more blessed.
Challenge to Peter
- After breakfast by the lake of Galilee, Jesus asked Peter a similar a question
three times? What was the question?
Jesus asked Peter about loving the Lord. The first time Jesus asked Peter loved him
as much as the other disciples. The other two times Jesus simply asked
Peter “Do you love me?”
- After listening to Peter’s reply, what did the Lord tell Peter to do?
Jesus told Peter to take care of his lambs - to tend his sheep. Jesus was referring to
believers when he used the words ‘lamb’ and ‘sheep’.
The Great Commission
- What did Jesus command the disciples and all believers to do?
Jesus Christ commanded the disciples and all believers to go and make disciples of
all people - baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy
Spirit; teaching them to observe what the Lord has commanded.
