Jesus Heals the Paralyzed Man - Forgiving of Sin
  • In this story, there was a strong argument concerning sin and disease. What caused the disagreement?
    There was a belief that if a man was sick or disabled, it was because of sin in the life.

  • How did Jesus respond to this situation?
    Jesus said that if sickness was caused by sin, what difference did it make if he healed the person, or told them that their sins were forgiven.

  • What was important about Jesus telling the man that his sins were forgiven?
    Jesus was saying that if sickness was because of sin, that he had the power to forgive sins as the Son of Man.

  • Did Jesus believe that a person was sick because of sin?
    Jesus did not believe this.
Jesus - the Lord of the Sabbath
  • Why did the religious leaders become angry because Jesus’ disciples picked corn and ate it?
    The believed that this was breaking the Sabbath.

  • What did Jesus say about the Sabbath?
    Jesus said the Sabbath was made for man and he was the Lord of the Sabbath. The religious leaders were making worship into a set of rules and regulations.

  • What did Jesus say that made the religious leaders so angry?
    Jesus was calling God his own Father - putting himself on the same level as God.
